The Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka (VIASL) is the foremost representative body of automobile importers in Sri Lanka.
Founded in 1984 with the aim of representing the interests of the vehicle importers, VIASL advocates the automobile importation industry and proactively engages in the welfare of its members, and Sri Lankan consumers. The Association comprises a wide-reaching membership of 132 prominent importers of the country.
VIASL has pledged to:
- Facilitate united action to advocate the vehicle importation industry in Sri Lanka
- Effectively lobby the government proposals and existing legislation through formal meetings with governmental departments and bodies
- Foster communication with the government, policy makers and relevant ministries
- Offer mutual support and provide a forum for the exchange of information and views on matters affecting the industry and interests of the members
- Strengthen the relationship between Japanese auction houses and VIASL members
- Conduct joint-business activities in the best interest of members
- Educate and update the vehicle buyers on latest technologies, trends through exhibitions, conferences etc.
- Establish ethics for fair trade in the used motor vehicle industry
- Inform the public about matters related to the automobile industry
